Here’s some soundtrack for all of you #OWS people out there fighting for our rights. We need a new kind of soldier, a new type of war. But the only way we are going to effect any change is by making it an economic war and a war of resources.
The following resources are things that we can influence that non-biological entities require in order to survive, grow, and propagate:
- Money
- Physical Space (offices or land)
- Human Capital
They cannot secure any of the above WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION. The only way they could secure those three items without our permission is with force. We can take back control over our lives and our futures if we take hostage, the above resources.
This is not in a literal sense, we don’t have to hold people against their will. What we *can* do is modify the infrastructure in a non-destructive civilly disobedient manner so that corporations can no longer access their human capital.
We can non-violently occupy the physical spaces they need and take them back. A corporation doesn’t have any more right to a physical space than a human being does.
We can withhold money from those corporations in which we wish to effect change. Asking our government to apply fines will not be enough. We need to make them rely on *us* for survival, not the other way around. We need to rely on our own wit and creativity to cause this change. We don’t need to rely on a third party to become our enforcers. We must become our own enforcers and protect our own future.
There can be a future where non-biological entities and humans exist in a beneficial symbiotic relationship but first we need to take control of our own future and stop exchanging our future for consumerism which is the true name of the economic environment we live in. This isn’t capitalism. It’s consumerism. We have been trading our futures and our children’s futures and the future of our species in exchange for excessive luxury.
We can have luxury without inefficient excess. I understand how difficult it is for a person to give up their hard earned luxuries and this is not a plea for anyone to sacrifice their luxury. It is a plea for us to stop sacrificing our future in exchange for inefficient excessive luxuries.
Until we experience a paradigm shift in our culture’s desire for consumerism toward a radically self reliant philosophy, our protests will continue to be unheard.
