without our permission

December 4th, 2011

Here’s some soundtrack for all of you #OWS people out there fighting for our rights. We need a new kind of soldier, a new type of war. But the only way we are going to effect any change is by making it an economic war and a war of resources.

The following resources are things that we can influence that non-biological entities require in order to survive, grow, and propagate:

  • Money
  • Physical Space (offices or land)
  • Human Capital

They cannot secure any of the above WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION. The only way they could secure those three items without our permission is with force. We can take back control over our lives and our futures if we take hostage, the above resources.

This is not in a literal sense, we don’t have to hold people against their will. What we *can* do is modify the infrastructure in a non-destructive civilly disobedient manner so that corporations can no longer access their human capital.

We can non-violently occupy the physical spaces they need and take them back. A corporation doesn’t have any more right to a physical space than a human being does.

We can withhold money from those corporations in which we wish to effect change. Asking our government to apply fines will not be enough. We need to make them rely on *us* for survival, not the other way around. We need to rely on our own wit and creativity to cause this change. We don’t need to rely on a third party to become our enforcers. We must become our own enforcers and protect our own future.

There can be a future where non-biological entities and humans exist in a beneficial symbiotic relationship but first we need to take control of our own future and stop exchanging our future for consumerism which is the true name of the economic environment we live in. This isn’t capitalism. It’s consumerism. We have been trading our futures and our children’s futures and the future of our species in exchange for excessive luxury.

We can have luxury without inefficient excess. I understand how difficult it is for a person to give up their hard earned luxuries and this is not a plea for anyone to sacrifice their luxury. It is a plea for us to stop sacrificing our future in exchange for inefficient excessive luxuries.

Until we experience a paradigm shift in our culture’s desire for consumerism toward a radically self reliant philosophy, our protests will continue to be unheard.

warning potentially offensive rant coming, if you identify yourself as an environmentally and politically aware counter-culture individual who is easily offended, please do not read the following.

I’m concerned about America’s Celiac Disease epidemic. Originally this disease only affected roughly 1% of the population, but apparently Celiac Disease is running rampant because you can’t go anywhere without being sold on some sort of product that is Gluten Free.

Either that, or every dumb shit who follows every Oprah fad is too stupid to use their freaking brains to understand that “Gluten Free” is another label that corporations have found people will pay premium for. Even foods that are naturally gluten free are now being marked up because they are combating the epidemic that is Celiac’s Disease.

What gets me the most is how every fad in the “hippie” community or the “burners” or any one who proclaims they are rising up against mankind’s tyranny against nature or basically many of the people who think they are counter-culture, every fad comes from Oprah. It’s like she’s the unrecognized anti-critical thinker that is unintentionally leading the ‘movement’.

The best way to pacify any counterculture movement that doesn’t support profits is to provide them with misinformation and fear.

He who controls the spice, controls the universe :-p

Fun fact for those of you who buy into this whole Gluten Free fad.

Wheat production in the U.S. continues to decline as we rely more on imported wheat and subsidies for wheat have been reduced.

If you were in the business of selling food and one of your staple ingredients cost more to obtain, would you eat that cost or would you pass it along to the customer?

Second question. If you choose to pass along the cost to the customer, how do you combat declining sales? It is sometimes natural that sales decrease when you increase the cost of your product. What if you knew that marketing has been proven as an effective tool to increase sales, would you use it?

Third question. If you chose to use marketing to cover the price gap between paying more for your product and asking your customer to pay more in return in order to increase sales, how would you market your product if your product used to contain wheat but no longer contains it?

Why would somebody be willing to pay more for something if you are removing an ingredient? How could you convince your customer that you’re providing a valuable service to them?

http://www.ers.usda.gov/data/wheat/YBtable05.asp

Take a look at the last item in the list from the pdf linked below and remember that the U.S. population is not static, it is also growing so remember to take into account that as the population grows, so does the demand for wheat. Wheat production has been in decline since the late 90′s.

netflix and why you, the complainer, are wrong

September 21st, 2011

Netflix Rant (You’re all wrong):

I don’t understand how people continue to make out Netflix to be the bad guy when they are the ones fighting for our ability to view content whenever and wherever we want and on whatever devices we want. THANK YOU NETFLIX!

and to the rest of you bitching an moaning, bugger off and go rent your movies at blockbuster video at 5 bucks per rental with late fees or go pay for satellite television  or cable television for 40 – 160 bucks per month and don’t forget to add on your premium subscriptions to services like HBO and Showtime.

Or why don’t you go purchase the DVD’s yourself? New, you’ll average 15 per dvd and howabout if you want a whole season of a series? 40? 60 bucks per season?

Next, go to the movie theater and spend 8.50 per person to see the newest and greatest movie.
Seriously guys, if it wasn’t for netflix do you think you would be watching movies on your mobile phone right now? Do you really think the content producers wanted that? You’re all fucking insane. I can’t believe how many people turned on Netflix without a second thought and no one remembers how Netflix stood up for us, the consumer. I’m ashamed of all of you.

here’s my previous response I made earlier about this whole issue.

*disclaimer*

warning: press your tl;dr button now if you aren’t functionally literate. All that’s going to happen if you read the whole thing if you’re *illiterate* is that you’re going to make personal attacks against my character and then threaten me or my loved ones with physical harm or distress.

remember, this is the internet, stop taking everything so seriously

I’d rather somebody resign because they weren’t doing their job. I could care less what they do in their own home.

Or are we trying to say that we don’t want people telling us what we can or can’t do in our own home as far as sexuality or marijuana but then we expect politicians to respect that when we force them to resign not based on their job performance but based on their sexuality?

Brian Jarvis:

If we evicted every individual in government office who has committed adultery (let alone phone sex and porn), we wouldn’t have much of a government left.

Politics, government, and and lying go hand in hand until you get down on a local level. Then it’s only *most* of the time.

I would think that in a democracy, despite our belief that the ‘other side’ is always winning in our government and always feeling like we’re on the losing team, our representatives represent a cross-section of *an* average population. Maybe not *our* average population but an average nonetheless.

Statistically speaking, we’re going to find adulterers in a certain percentage of a population no matter what government or religion or belief system you have so I’d have to argue that basing your feelings about a particular representative based on his home life or his sexuality is pretty weak because you’re not going to change a person’s sexuality and you definitely shouldn’t be dictating what other people do in their homes unless they are harming others or in a politician’s case, creating a conflict of interest.

No matter how hard we try, we are always going to have adulterers in office, I suggest we get over it and start focusing on the actual issues. Spending time on incidents we cannot resolve keeps us from the ones that we *can* change and the ones that we *can* resolve.

Quit being a passive citizen led around by your base emotions and start projecting your energies into creating solutions for the issues that *do* cause us personal harm or cause us to lose our civil liberties.

Brian Jarvis:

Part of this problem stems from the expectation that all politicians are supposed to have monogamous relationships.

For all we know both husband and wife have a don’t ask don’t tell policy while on business. (Lots of couples do.) Someone in the public catches something juicy from time to time, leaks info the the public, and a politician has no choice but to come clean if they want to keep doing their job without losing even more face than they already have.

For many spouses of politicians, it’s more of a strain that the issue goes public than it is that their husband was with another woman.

We don’t know this entire story. So much in the political world is done for face simply because human beings can’t accept others for who they are without instantly judnging them.

non-biological entities part 1

March 29th, 2011

The thesis of my thesis

I have a couple articles and presentations prepared on ‘non-biological’ entities and the threat they pose to biological entities such as animals and humans.

It boils down to the fact that corporations are mindless entities, like amoeba, yet they are granted the same rights and status as humans according to the constitution of the united states of america. the other disconnect that causes major harm is that non-biological entities do not have the same necessities as humans in order to survive and propagate.

It’s not that their agenda is to remake America. They don’t have an agenda like a person would have an agenda. Their purpose is to propagate and continue surviving just like biological entities. But they evolve according to different rules from regular evolution.

Non-biological entities do not need clean food, air or water to survive. What they *do* need to survive and propagate is money. Sometimes they need other resources such as human labor capital, land and water. They must re-purpose the land and air in order to produce waste. They must re-purpose the water in order to produce heat waste or chemical waste.

This is what causes the major disconnect and where our environments and needs start to overlap. If a biological entity has no need or desire for money, a non-biological entity will not survive. Our need for clean food, air and water limits the growth of a corporation. In America, a corporation’s sole purpose is to increase profits each quarter. Everything else is ancillary to this purpose.

As a result, although not sentient by any means, non-biological entities have influenced human psychological evolution by changing what we desire. We no longer value clean food, air and water above all else. Sometimes valuing these things are viewed with contempt and derision. If you’ve followed my point so far, you’ll be able to see where the rest of this is going.

I didn’t read the original post, but I wonder if he was discussing some of the same things, just from a different perspective.

I do, however, have a controversial point of view concerning what must happen with non-biological entities.

If we are to survive and propagate as a species beyond another ten-thousand years. If we want to exist beyond the natural physical limitations our planet and our galaxy has imposed upon us, we need to learn how to co-exist with non-biological entities and find a way that we can exist harmoniously. The reason I believe this is that *because* corporations were granted constitutional rights, America shot forward into the future faster than any natural evolution could afford.

I’m not saying this is the only event that sped along progress, but it is definitely a major contributor. Since Abraham Lincoln’s time (and the passing of the 14th amendment) corporations have allowed us to exponentially increase our knowledge, our awareness, our technology, etc.

So I propose that we live in a very exciting age and time. We are on the cusp of conquering and surpassing physical limitations of any kind. We just need to be more aware and proactive in guiding this process because if we allow a non-sentient, non-biological, non-conscious entity to control the fate of human evolution, it will lead to self-destruction not only of corporations but of the human species as well.

Addendum:

I’m going to share a somewhat controversial view and it is to be taken with a grain of salt:

A population of critical thinkers is not a pipe-dream if we no longer allow unfettered access to procreation to the idiots and the imbeciles ;) Before the modern age, idiocy was weeded out through the process of natural selection.

Now we live in an artificial environment where ‘he who is most offended’ or ‘he who has the least’ does, in fact, receive the most protection and the most rights at the expense of those who ‘have more’. Therefore, the illiterate breed more and are a protected class who support the rights and rise of non-biological entities whereas literates and critical thinkers are seen as a threat to both non-biological entities and the illiterate class (which is the most valuable human capital to a non-biological entity). Because they are seen as a threat, critical thinkers are often attacked either directly through physical confrontation or through psychological information warfare where they are inundated with information overload from media.

censorship

February 8th, 2011

One of my discussion topics in my theater class where the assignment was: “What are your thoughts on censorship?”

I avoided sharing in this discussion for the very reason that I have too many emotions involved concerning this subject, but I ask anyone who is offended by this view should please move along as my discussion is somewhat inflammatory and very close to being troll-bait, although not by design. It just generally happens that way when you take such an extreme view on such an emotionally charged subject. So I apologize if any flaming occurs as a result of my remarks.

“I have sworn upon the altar of God eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.” – Thomas Jefferson

I have some very strong opinions about censorship. My bias mostly comes from my philosophy that information should be free and freely accessible. Please forgive my ‘slippery slope’ fallacy, but censorship is a tool that is abused and stifles growth more often than it ‘protects’ somebody from harm. As this is only a 100 word discussion topic asking for opinions, I will not be providing references or empirical evidence but I will share my opinions on the matter.

Censorship allows anyone who is offended to control what other people are allowed to consume. It provides people with a false justification with which to impose their will upon others with no repercussions. Censorship also allows people to feel entitled to philosophy and lets people think that it is acceptable to forcefully control the lives of others.

I do not care for your cries of “what about the children”/”save the children”. This rhetoric proves to me that the only purpose of censorship is to manipulate the emotions and fears of everyone concerned. Censorship serves no other purpose than to give those with intellectually incapable minds a more ‘level’ playing ground with which to aggressively attack those who have more rational minds. It is their way of trying to make up for their laziness of the brain and excuses them from having to exercise their right to refuse to consume offensive content. Worry about your own consumption of information. Don’t force your flawed world perceptions upon mine or my family’s.

Relating this subject to current events brings me to the topic of censoring Mark Twain’s book Huckleberry Finn by replacing all instances of the word “Nigger” with the word “Slave”. Rewriting history as it was actually spoken speaks volumes of the lengths people will go to in order to avoid becoming offended or avoid the remote possibility of offending others.

The abuses of censorship far outweigh any social benefits we could curate by instituting any form of ‘reasonable’ censorship rules. I know I keep repeating myself, but, I’ll say it a different way again. Censorship can cause greater magnitudes of harm to society’s growth and learning than the harm that is caused by somebody being offended by objectionable material, especially considering no one has the right to force you to watch offensive material while those that are offended have the right to force others to not view objectionable material.

Vegetable Oil != Olive Oil, fuckwad

February 2nd, 2011

and this starts me on a whole life-time’s rant of pet peeves that stem from the same mentally retarded dysfunction that every fucking idiot on the planet has. Left is not right, guys. When I say left, I don’t mean turn right and then laugh at yourself for being a fucking retard.

Mayonnaise and Miracle Whip are not the same. They are COMPLETELY FUCKING DIFFERENT SUBSTANCES. In case you didn’t notice, BUTTER AND MARGARINE.. well, if you think that a product from vegetables is the same as a fatty product from animals is the same, you’re still a fucking retard. THEY TASTE DIFFERENT!

Skim milk is not an appropriate substitute for whole milk. why the fuck are you even drinking milk in the first place if you remove all the fat from it? Milk IS fat. dumb-ass and it’s near impossible to cook food with fat-less milk. quit your whining and drink the real stuff or don’t drink milk at all. quit being so half-assed about it.

Aspirin is not Ibuprofen. Tylenol is not Ibuprofen. Hydrocodone is not Ibuprofen. When I ask for a fucking Ibuprofen, for god’s sake, learn the simple fact that DIFFERENT WORDS HAVE DIFFERENT MEANINGS.

I am seriously losing my mind thinking that words have different meanings, but I live in a world full of imbeciles and I keep thinking there is something wrong with me every time I say left and EVERY FUCKING ONE OF YOU IMMEDIATELY LOOKS RIGHT. I’m not kidding, I bet you did it just now, you fucking retard.

Now look Left.

See what you did there? If you looked to your right, it is a sign that you are mentally retarded and it probably follows your ‘logic’ dictates that all oils are the same, that butter and margarine are the same, that all words have whatever meaning you want them to have at the time you say it and so-on and so-forth.

Please just go kill yourself now and remove your retardedness from the gene pool.

Thank you

spokeo FUD

January 15th, 2011

My response to the FUD about spokeo.com.

Original chain letter goes something like this:

here’s a site called spokeo.com that’s a new online USA phone book w/personal information: everything from pics you’ve posted on FB or web, your approx credit score, home value, income, age, family member’s names. Remove yourself by searching your name, find your page, copy the URL then go to the bottom right of the p…age & click on the Privacy link to remove yourself.”

More FUD

oh hay, this one actually happens to be true :-p

http://www.snopes.com/computer/internet/spokeo.asp

I always check snopes before doing what some random anonymous chain letter tells me what to do. Generally the consequences are less than desirable, thank goodness it only takes less than ten seconds to verify the authority of most, if not all, chain letters.

However, it still qualifies as FUD. I cite the following quote, taken from the snopes page linked above, as reasonable logic describing the actual severity of your information being freely available online:

“In short, removing your personal information from display by Internet aggregators isn’t a one-time deal, but rather more like a never ending game of Whack-a-Mole: You might swat down an aggregator site or two, but more of them will inevitably pop up.”

I mean, seriously, it’s not like this is the first time there’s been a plethora of public information made available on you. You’re all using facebook for chrissakes. Why the FUD now?

Just stop using your real name online, needlessly, in the first place. What are the actual chances that something bad is going to happen to you now that you’re aware that your information is public. It’s been freely available this whole time. Nothing new has developed.

For those of you not familiar with FUD:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fear,_uncertainty_and_doubt

[update]

meh.

you shouldn’t be leaving such sensitive information laying around anyway. also, what are the *actual* statistical chances of your information being used to harm you?

http://bjs.ojp.usdoj.gov/index.cfm?ty=tp&tid=972

5 out of 100.

That’s *if* the assailant can get enough information on you to commit identity theft. Then what happens? Identity theft is economic harm, only in rare cases does it translate to real physical harm upon the victims.

Beyond that, you all give your addresses and full names and social security numbers to any written form that asks for it, so don’t blame those who ‘invade’ our privacy.

Blame yourselves for not being aware of who you were giving your information to in the first place. None of this could have happened without, *you*, the willing participant.

Now everyone these days are all up in arms trying to foster some form of revolution against the status quo that you all created?

pshhh.

I call bollocks on all of you who fear somebody collecting all yur infoz. :-p

facebook cartoon avatars

December 5th, 2010

Unedited copy paste from my facebook rants: *updated Dec 06*

Fact: inserting “save the children” into any message will assure it’s success in becoming viral, regardless of the source.

Stop Child Abuse, Turn Them Into Skittles

Stop Child Abuse, Turn Them Into Skittles

I did *my* part to stop child abuse by changing my profile pic on facebook. For every profile pic that changes to a cartoon, another child will be spared the rod. Save a child by changing your profile pic now! plz copy and paste, if you don’t it means you are a child abuser.

If you’re serious about saving the children, maybe try some of the following.

http://www.givewell.org/united-states/top-charities/invest-in-kids

http://www.givewell.org/united-states/education/top-charities/KIPP

?”Don’t confuse what “feels good” with what actually helps the most – Wanna know something that feels good? I fund micro-loans on Kiva. It’s a ridiculously cheap way to feel good about helping people. It totally plays into this romantic story I have in my mind about helping business owners help themselves. And there’s lots of shiny pictures of people I can identify with. But does loaning $25 to someone on the other side of the planet really make the biggest impact possible? Definitely not. So I fund a few Kiva loans a month because it fulfills a deep-seated psychological need of mine — a need that doesn’t go away by ignoring it or pretending it doesn’t exist. But once that’s out of the way, I devote the vast majority of my time and resources to contributing to other non-profits with staggeringly higher pay-offs.” – Less Wrong

I’m against child abuse, too. But I’d rather find a more pro-active way to help children than changing my profile pic on facebook.

It is an example of ‘low risk’ strategy for social change. It doesn’t require any sacrifice or effort on the part of the participant. But it makes people feel like they are a part of something big and makes them feel better about themselves, even though they haven’t really invested any part of themselves.

Now that we feel like we’ve participated, we no longer feel the need to be pro-active in other ways because we already contributed by changing our profile pic on facebook.

“It makes it easier for activists to express themselves, and harder for that expression to have any impact.” – New Yorker

Remember, the original “change your profile pic to your favorite cartoon character” meme did not include an appeal to our emotions by invoking child abuse, it was only after a couple weeks of unsuccessful propagation that the meme morphed and gained traction after adding the call to arms against child abuse.

This causes me to suspect the design and the intent of the message, therefore my incessant “whining” and “bitching”. I’d just like to see some more critical thinking and less blind parroting.

Logical Fallacies:

Appeal to Emotion – ‘This sort of “reasoning” is very common … serves as the basis for a large portion of modern advertising. …aimed at generating feelings in people so that these feelings will get them to vote or act a certain way. … In most cases, such speeches and commercials are notoriously free of real evidence.’

In this case, feelings were generated towards child abuse, therefore we felt the need to change our facebook profile pics.

Nope, no downside. Just trying to help people use their brains a bit more and so that they are less likely to be manipulated through their emotions.

The more friends that I have that can’t be manipulated by their emotions, the better my world will be, because then large corporations and shifty politicians can no longer influence them because you cannot sell shoddy products or shady promises to logic and reason.

http://i.imgur.com/Drw9c.png

**UPDATE**

Good place to keep track of the whole cartoon profile picture event. Now there’s another one being spread about how it’s all a conspiracy by the pedophiles. Shit gets funnier and funnier, the stuff that you guys believe without question. It’s religion that teaches you to accept information without evidence.

If you have a cartoonpicture as your profile picture, REMOVE IT! a group of pedophiles madeit up. They’re doing it because kids will accept their friend requestfaster if they see a cartoon picture. It has nothing to do with child.violence. It was on a TV show that warns you about Internet fraud, plus it’s on the news tonight. SET THIS……… AS YOUR STATUS AND WARN OTHERS!See

more memes. First we pass along the first one blindly without question, then we pass along the second piece of misinformation. Without question.

If we weren’t copy pasting statuses in the first place, none of this would be happening. amirite?

who needs critical thinking when we have facebook?

If you have time to search the internet for a picture, you also have time to do a bit of critical thinking and research the information before you blindly pass it along and ask your friends to do the same.

mind meld

July 31st, 2009

I keep telling myself that I am going to write… something. Days turn into drunken attempts to forget the present and rub out the recent past. Then I convince myself that writing would be an exercise in Emo or an exercise in pretentiousness. Just a way to stroke my own ego. It’s not going to be pretty. Turn away now.

Convoluted spasms of jerking off into the void of missing opportunities our missing link splurges among the spooge left in her mouth. Never do it. That’s my advice. Just don’t let Nike take control. Don’t do it.

There is no coming back from that which is the mojo killer of all time. Once your mojo is gone, everything else is just pretend. Watching movies, playing video games, jerking off to porn, looking for the next way to get yourself off… the next golden ticket that will take you through the imaginary, through that which will cleanse the lucidness from your crust filled eyelashes.

The only satisfaction we can get these days is when pissing into a bowl full of water. The bubbles float to the surface and the acoustic sounds of hot steamy liquid violating the cold still KELD.

Maybe it can happen again.

Maybe your mind will vulcan together like the slice of cheese stuck between the bun and the burger. You’ll never pry them apart now.
